Nutrition meets comfort food.
Who does not enjoy palatable delicacies!
When we talk about nutrition, all we think of is compromising with taste.
Though, we all know how nutrition, is important to make us healthy, fit and
disease free.
A balanced diet with a bit of changes
in menu, is all we need where the food is served in at home at healthcare
institutions, restaurants, canteens as well as at workplaces.
Let’s look at four points on how we achieve
our nutritional goals with comfort food.
1. Gone are the days when healthy food, was referred as boiled or
blend food.
Do you know, you can eat all that you
wish for without jeopardizing your taste buds? Have you ever tried Frozen greek
yogurt instead of ice-creams? Or maybe a rice bowl with tofu, pita bread and
salsa? You can, swap your regular oily fried food with grilled or baked food.
Instead of paneer curry you can have tofu curry, wheat bread with whole wheat
bread. There are wide range of fresh fruits, vegetables, gluten-free grains and
also desserts made of stevia to please your sweet tooth without causing any harm.
We are hooked up in our busy
schedule, that we get no time to cook and end up hopping on street food or all
that unhealthy food.
We need to plan our time, where we
pre-prep all the ingredients in advance. For instance, making batch of gravy
which we can use as per convenience. Today food provided outside, are produced
inexpensively for the production being a byword. The emphasis is more on taste
and ease of cooking. Therefore, preparing your own meals is essential part of healthy
eating, it also will prevent you from over eating and will keep nutrition on
point. One should not depend on junk or processed food for a longer time period.
Try, watching one recipe and making it all by yourself, I am sure you will
become curious to try new recipes whenever you can.
3. Understanding
Significance of healthy diet.
Firstly, adapting changes in your
diet must be a lifestyle change. The kind of meals which you can eat, should feel
satisfying so you can stick to it for life long. It surely seems challenging,
though it takes time to get used to changes. Therefore take one step at a time.
Initially try cutting refined-carbs from at least one meal or just by reducing
sugar intake. Once, you get habitual of eating all the nutrient dense food
there will be no going back. You will be surprised, to see what changes, you
will start feeling energetic, bloating will be gone. It simply is , “We are
what we eat”. If we think rationally, isn’t it a minimal modification to opt
for rather than, being caught up by an lurgy.
4 4. Understanding how to eat.
There must be right proportion of
carbs, protein and fat on your plate when you are on balanced diet. Everybody,
have unalike bodies and it’s requirements. To make it easy, start counting macros
as per our muscle, fat, age and other BMI factors. This will help you keep,
right protein, fat, carb proportion in
check. This small practice not merely but also, aids us to stay under
required calories and circumvents us from binge eating. To make it more
sustainable, do have a short term goals. Who said you can treat yourself for
achieving them! Haven’t you heard about cheat meals too?
If we look onto the internet we have
ample of resources, which can help us break monotony by providing variety of dishes
to try. We often get bored of diet because, we are given same
food to eat. We are blessed with multiple cuisines around the world. All we have
to do is try it, and fit it into our meals.
